I have to admit, I am obsessed with SHAPE magazine. I stare at the delicious, healthy foods and think to myself, "Well if I had time and those ingredients, I would make this!" But we all know that we probably won't do that. And those work outs they give you to do while watching television, I try them once, but I find it much easier to just plant myself on the couch.  However, I'm on a mission to get fit, so I'm going to find some work outs that I find suitable for the average person just like me.

So obviously as I'm browsing through SHAPE's website I see an article titled, "The Real Secret to Skinny". Naturally I click on it, and find that it's actually useful.  It explains that if you can do 8-12 reps IN PROPER FORM ( I am extenuating the words "IN PROPER FORM" because if you aren't completing the exercises correctly, you're not going to see the results) then you should either increase the weight being lifted or slow down your reps and holding at the hardest part.

Sometimes I find myself just going through the motions at the gym and not actually feeling, "the burn". Next time I go, I'll be slowing down or stepping it up.

  1. Form is everything! Many people workout and not focus on what they are really doing so in the long run it doesn't help their body much. When I workout I make sure to take it slow to really feel what I'm trying to tone.
